Leap into Science: Light and Shadows

Leap into Science: Light and Shadows In-Person

Miss Lynne will be offering the first workshop during National Leap into Science week on Friday, June 11, 2021 at 7pm. We’ll also be partnering with Andrew Van Camp, a National Park Service Ranger at Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial. We’ll be exploring the relationships between light and shadows with a story and some fun experiments. With our Summer Reading Challenge theme of Tails and Tales, we’ll also be learning about the world of nocturnal animals, who only venture out at night. This virtual program will have a take-home craft kit component that will need to be picked up before the program begins!

Ohio was selected to join the 3rd cohort of the nationwide Leap Into Science (LIS) program network. LIS was developed by The Franklin Institute Science Museum and it integrates open-ended science activities with children’s books, designed especially for children ages 3-10 along with their families. Selected libraries in Ohio were chosen to join this national network and the Birchard Public Library was one of them! Four of our librarians in three different branches completed two session training and will be offering a variety of workshops throughout the year.

If you’re unable to attend this session, don’t worry! We’ll also be hosting another session of this same workshop again on July 10, 2021.

The Zoom link will be emailed approximately 30 minutes before the event begins to the email provided. Please make sure that you've registered for each child in the family, so you'll be picking up the correct number of kits before our program from our Main branch.
