Snow Much Fun Engineering Challenges In-Person

A self-discovery station with a special story and instructions for each challenge will be available each Thursday through Wednesday during opening hours. Younger children will need the help of an older child or guardian for the easy challenges. The intermediate challenges are recommended for students in grade 3 on up.  

 

January 12th-18th – Be an engineer like Rosie! 

Challenges: Tallest Paper Tower Challenge (intermediate) or make a marshmallow tower (easy) 

Story: “Rosie Revere, Engineer” by Andrea Beaty 

 

January 19th-25th – Build a toothpick truss and learn about bridges from Science Comics! 

Challenge: Build a toothpick truss and learn how a shape can affect stability (easy) 

Story: “Science Comics: Briges Engineering Masterpieces” by Dan Zettwoch 

 

January 26th-31st – Give strength to a bridge like Emily Roebling! 

Challenge: Build a suspension bridge (intermediate) or a bridge out of Legos (easy) 

Story: “Secret Engineer: How Emily Roebling Built the Brooklyn Bridge” by Rachel Dougherty
